Mayweather return to officially place him in $1 billion earning club

Floyd Mayweather’s comeback from retirement for the New Year’s fight night will formally place the world champion boxer in the $1billion earnings club.
World-champion boxer Floyd Mayweather is once again coming out of retirement, this time to fight Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in Saitama on New Year’s Eve. Mayweather’s most recent bout came against mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Conor McGregor in August 2017, with the knockout win earning the American his 50th professional victory.
In a deal with a Japanese MMA company, the Rizin Fighting Federation, Mayweather, 41, will face Nasukawa at its year-end show. The undefeated 20-year-old has already racked up 27 kickboxing victories, as well as four wins since his MMA debut in 2016.
At the announcement in Tokyo, Mayweather said: “It wasn’t easy to make this happen, but we told the people anything is possible, so now we’re here and we want to make sure that we give the people in Tokyo what they want to see: blood, sweat and tears.”
Mayweather will put his perfect record on the line in what is set to be his first professional fight on foreign soil since turning professional. Though not officially confirmed but Mayweather is tipped to earn a few million dollars more than what he has made through his last fight against McGregor. The fight will officially take Mayweather to the ultra-exclusive $1 billion club for the sports stars.
According to Forbes, The billion dollar earning mark till date has only been achieved by two other elite, iconic athletes – Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods. Each has earned about $1.5 billion over the course of their careers from sponsorships, winnings, salaries, and the like. Mayweather’s career earnings hover around $ 1 billion dollars after his victory over McGregor. He reportedly earned over $300 million for one fight against the UFC star. Victory or defeat – notwithstanding, the earnings from the fight will officially make FLOYD MAYWEATHER, the billion dollar man this new year eve.
