Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot will be the official timekeeper for Cricket Australia for the 2017-18 summer season.
The Swiss luxury watchmaker will serve as an official partner of the national governing body of cricket in Australia for the 2017-18 summer cricket season in a deal which covers the Ashes series against England that began last week.
Hublot, which is already a partner of the International Cricket Council and holds a brand ambassador agreement with former Australia captain Michael Clarke, will receive rights to the countdown clock on in-stadium signage, which is used to count down until the start of the coin toss and each session during games.
To celebrate this sport and the partnership, Hublot has created the Classic Fusion Chronograph “The Ashes”. Michael Clarke had unveiled the new timepiece, along with discussing his formidable cricket career and involvement in The Ashes as a Commentator, over an exclusive event held at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground last week.
Several subtle details give the watch its unique character. The dial features a few distinctive symbols directly associated with cricket: the hands of the two counters in the shape of a bat and, at 12 o’clock, a triple applique referring to the stumps. The case-back bears the Ashes series logo on the sapphire glass. The ensemble is completed by a grey color dial and strap as a reference to the color of ashes. Finally, the calfskin strap is stitched with triple white saddle stitching in the style of a cricket ball. The Classic Fusion Chronograph “The Ashes” is limited to 32 pieces, referring to the number of series won by each team.
The winning team captain will then be presented with a 33rd watch at the end of the ongoing series.
Hublot will also be a presenting partner of an award at the Allan Border Medal, CA’s annual premier awards event.
Australia won the first Ashes Test by a comprehensive margin of ten wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. The second Test gets underway at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday.
