Sports Tak reaches 1.1 lakh subscribers, 13 mn views

The 80-day-old Sports Tak, TV Today group’s digital sports news, views and analysis platform, is making big strides. Launched on September 1, 2017, Sports Tak in a span of  11 weeks has surpassed 1.1 million subscribers and is closing in on 14 million Youtube views.
Interactive shows with TV Today panel of sports experts like Saurav Ganguly, Harbhajan Singh, Mohammad Azharuddin, Michael Clarke, Chetan Chauhan, Nikhil Chopra and veteran presenter Vikrant Gupta is an instant hit. Some of the popular chat shows have registered up to 90,000 views.
The fourth-day post-match review show for the India-Sri Lanka Test in Kolkata on Sunday has registered 30 thousand views in fourteen hours. The shows like Sports Tak @ Lunch Time and Sports Tak Blast, which also featured a series on Sachin Tendulkar, have been an instant hit. Legends’ direct interaction with sports lovers has been a driving factor to draw an instant dedicated viewer base for the youtube channel.
“This is a direct interface between the experts and the viewers. We started it as a daily bulletin and since there is no time bar, viewers get an opportunity to participate in the show and ask questions,” TV Today Sports Editor Vikrant Gupta, who also heads Sports Tak, told insidesport.co. “Going by the success of this sports news platform and taste of our viewers, I am convinced that this can be the future of a news medium like us.”
The shows do have their limitations with regard to video and other visual content as TV Today strictly adheres to media and intellectual property rights norms. However, the strength of the TV Today expert panel, strong show content and opportunity to directly engage with the show host and experts have resulted in a steady growth of Sports Tak’s committed viewer base.
“The viewers will show faith in a product like this only when they are fully satisfied. In Sports Tak they feel this is what they have been looking for,” added Gupta.
The youtube channel presents exclusive interviews, live chats, inputs from Aajtak’s rich sports archives, shows like week-long series “Salaam Sachin” and panel discussions involving experts, media persons and analysts.
