Bopanna in fitness business, initiates Cardio Tennis from Bengaluru

Tennis from Bengaluru

Rohan Bopanna is following his career as an entrepreneur as diligently as he has pursued excellence as a professional tennis player. Rather he has targeted a business opportunity in what he does the best. And, Bopanna’s business enterprise in tennis is not coaching. It is rather the business of health – Cardio Tennis. Bopanna along with Meraki Sports and Entertainment had acquired the Cardio Tennis business license for India late last year.
In a span of seven moths, Cardio Tennis India has launch their first centre from the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association courts at Bengaluru. An hour long session of Cardio Session costs a mere ₹ 400 and helps burn up to an average 805 calories. The first monthly package for week-end (Saturday) sessions on July 14, 21, 28 and August 4 from 8 am to 9 am was  priced at ₹ 1,200.
The intense fitness regime in synch with the high musical beats combines tennis with cardiovascular excercises. The Cardio Tennis is a blazing trend in Australia, the USA and the UK.  Bopanna and Meraki Sports and Entertainment have joined hands to bring this fitness phenomenon to India. Heart rate is monitored during this tennis-inspired fitness regime and the participants are also provided a post-workout report.
Meraki has also released a promotion and educational video about Cardio Tennis.
“With CT, we hope to bring both tennis and fitness to people. It will encourage people to get out and play,” Bopanna had told Economic Times. “Bengaluru ranks higher than other Indian metros on health-consciousness. It is a mature market that is ready for a new fitness form like Cardio Tennis,” Bopanna explains about his choice to start the Cardio Tennis business from Bengaluru.
“A session of CT runs for about 50 minutes where participants can expect to burn 500-600 calories. One also need not be a tennis player to join this workout,” adds Harsha Thimmaiah, director of CT (India).
The Bopanna-Meraki Sports are the only licensees for Cardio Tennis in India. After the launch in Bengaluru, Cardio Tennis India is planning to take their fitness initiative across the country.
