Formula 1 has inked a streaming deal with social media giant Facebook to release a four-part documentary series showcasing its inaugural F1 Esports Series Pro Draft that took place earlier this month.
The first part of the series revealing behind the scenes global motorsport series’ esports competition went on air yesterday, July 25. Fans will now be able to witness the world’s best simulation racers battle it out to discover which Formula 1 team’s colours they will be donning this season.
The Pro Draft at the Gfinity Arena in West London saw a total of 16 gamers selected in a pool of 40 drivers to represent nine Formula 1 teams, with all of the series’ teams apart from Ferrari set to participate in the tournament.
The four-part series, with unrivalled access to the drivers and the pro teams, charts the story of the process, from assessment days at Silverstone before the British Grand Prix right through to the live selection show in London, which was attended by Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly. It will feature 40 gamers being tested by sim racing challenges, assessments and interviews.
The remaining three episodes will be broadcast on Facebook and selected TV broadcasters on August 22, September 5 and 22. The Facebook shows can also be accessed on the live stream page on F1Esports.com.

There they were assessed on all aspects from sim racing and fitness to media readiness and go-karting, eventually earning a chance to be picked by an official F1 team.”
