IPL Moneyball : IPL’s richest star MS Dhoni the top Income Tax payer in Jharkhand


Indian Premier League’s highest paid star Mahendra Singh Dhoni has become the top Income Tax in the State of Jharkhand. The Ranchi cricketer MS Dhoni has paid ₹ 12.17 crore in Income Tax for the financial year 2017-18. That makes Dhoni the highest tax-paying individual in the States of Jharkhand and Bihar.
Former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the highest taxpaying individual in Jharkhand for the financial year of 2017-18. Dhoni paid Rs 12.17 crore income tax last fiscal which is the highest income tax paid by an individual in the Bihar and Jharkhand region. Dhoni last year had paid ₹ 10.93 crore in Income Tax.  Among his various income heads, Dhoni in the 2017-28 Financial Year has earned ₹ 2.5 crore more in his IPL salary over the previous years.
HIGHEST EARNER IN IPL
The former India and Chennai Super Kings tops the Moneyball Rankings chart for the career Indian Premier League revenue of ₹107.84 crore across all the 11 seasons. He is one of the only two ₹100 crore IPL club member with Rohit Sharma. Dhoni has returned to the Chennai Super Kings at a negotiated ₹15 crore retention fee, as the India Cements-owned Yellow Brigade is reinstated after a two-year suspension. He last year was a member of the now defunct Royal Pune Supergiant for a ₹12.5 crore salary deal.
THIRD HIGHEST EARNING CRICKETER
Dhoni is reported by the Forbes business magazine last year as the third highest earning cricketer, only behind Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar, which also makes him the third richest athlete in the country. Forbes, in its richest Indian celebrities list for 2017-2018, had placed Dhoni in the 8th position with an annual revenue of ₹ 63.7 crore. Virat Kohli was listed in No. 3 behind Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan was reported to have an annual income of ₹100.72 crore. Sachin at No. 5 position had reportedly earned ₹82.5 crore during the fiscal.
DHONI’S BUSINESS INTEREST
The former Team India captain is also establishing himself as a successful entrepreneur during his playing days itself. His business interests include the sports apparel and footwear brand Seven, an alleged ownership of sports and talent management firm Rhiti Sports and co-ownership of the Indian Super League club Chennayin FC franchisee. He was also a co-owner of the ISL team Ranchi Rays.
BRAND ENDORSEMENT DEALS
As a celebrity brand icon, Dhoni also has a long list of brands he has endorsed. This ranges from the American chocolate manufacturer Mars’ Snickers, Orient Fans and Electricals, SRMB Steel, Lava Mobile, a chain of gyms SportsFit by MS Dhoni, Zed Black Agarbattis, GulfOil India, fantasy sports platform Dream 11, Sportswear and footwear major Reebok, Excide Life Insurance, Pepsico, GSK’s energy drink Boost, Amity University, sports gear and equipment brand Spartan, Aircel, two wheeler brand TVS, Videocon D2H, Tata Group’s Sonata Watches, Cello pens, Siyaram’s fabrics and India Cements.
An annual retainer ship of ₹ 2 crore (last year) and match fee were among the other main sources of his annual income during the fiscal.
He is also a brand ambassador for his native State, Jharkhand.
