Mercedes-Benz signs tennis star

Mercedes-Benz has announced that World No. 3 US tennis star Sloane Stephens is the brand’s newest global ambassador.
American tennis sensation Sloane Stephens has signed an endorsement deal with German luxury automotive manufacturer Mercedes-Benz. Stephens, who is the current world No.3, will serve as a global ambassador for the company. The 25-year-old is the defending US Open champion and the French Open 2018 finalist. She currently has six WTA titles and one ITF title under her belt.
Under the terms of the agreement, Stephens will work with Mercedes-Benz to capture and promote content and engage in employee relations activities. She will also be given a 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLE 63 S Coupe car.
Stephens, with this deal, will join the league of global sports celebrities which are among Mercedes-Benz global ambassadors including men’s tennis star Roger Federer, Formula One motor-racing driver Lewis Hamilton and golfer Rickie Fowler. Mercedes-Benz also serves as the official vehicle sponsor of the US Open.
“I am absolutely honoured to be a part of the Mercedes-Benz global family,” Stephens said. “Mercedes-Benz is constantly raising the bar in the automotive industry, which is similar to how I approach tennis. We both want to perform at the highest level and be the best in the world.
“Sloane Stephens is the perfect athlete to represent the Mercedes-Benz brand globally,” said Monique Harrison, Department Head of Brand Experience Marketing at Mercedes- Benz USA. “She has emerged as a powerhouse in the world of tennis, and has her sights set on being the best. We are excited to see her strive for greatness and help grow the game. At such a young age, she has already proven to be a star, making her an ideal fit for our brand.”
Stephens will seek to defend her US Open title, her first grand Slam title, at this year’s edition at Flushing Meadows, which runs fromAugust 27 to September 9. Last year’s triumph in New York marked Stephens’ first grand slam title.
