The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is conducting interviews for batting and bowling coach at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore.
Six candidates including the former Test cricketers WV Raman, Narendra Hirwani, Sunil Joshi, M Venkataramana, Ramesh Powar and ex-Tamil Nadu batsman Diwakar Vasu have appeared for the interview this week.
The interview, according to a cricbuzz report, was conducted by Committee of Administrators (CoA) member Diana Eduji, BCCI GM cricket operations Saba Karim, and Board CEO Rahul Johri at the BCCI office.
Raman and Hirwani were the batting and bowling coaches before their contracts expired recently. Joshi is currently the spin bowling coach of Bangladesh, while Powar, interestingly, will appear for another interview on Wednesday at the BKC for the Mumbai team coach.
MUMBAI RANJI COACH HUNT
Meanwhile, former pacer Pradeep Sundaram has, states a Times of India report, has applied for the Mumbai coaching job after the Mumbai Cricket Association extended the deadline for the same by three days. Monday was the last day for sending the applications for the post.
Sundaram played for Rajasthan for more than a decade. He has the distinction of taking ten wickets in an innings in a Ranji match and took 16 wickets in a Ranji game against Vidarbha in 1985-86 season. He has managed the Rajasthan team previously and also guided the Mumbai Under-23 team twice to Col CK Nayudu triumphs.
He was also a bowling coach at the (MCA) Bandra Kurla Complex facility. According to reports, Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC) hasapproached allrounder Abhishek Nayar with the offer of coaching the Mumbai team, but Nayar rejected it, saying he still had more to offer as a player.
