The newly-promoted LaLiga club Girona FC has announced the plans to expand its home stadium while sharing the information of its title sponsorship deal with Marathonbet.
Girona FC has signed international online bookmaker Marathonbet as their principal sponsor.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Catalan club will now sport the Marathonbet logo on the front of the first team’s kit– released yesterday – and will also benefit from a wide presence inside the Estadi Montilivi – the home of Girona FC through various branding rights. The financial details of the deal have not been revealed.
Marathonbet, in turn, will offer Girona FC fans extraordinary and unique experiences including exclusive content, promotions, opportunities and special offers.
The leading global bookmaker with more than 20 years of experience in the sector also have sponsorship agreements with clubs including Manchester City, Moscow Dynamo and Hibernian FC.
Girona was promoted to the top division of Spanish football for the first time at the end of the 2016–17 season. The club enjoyed a successful first season in LaLiga, finishing tenth and recording a memorable victory over Real Madrid in the process.
Girona FC CEO Ignasi Mas-Bagà, said, “Our agreement with Marathonbet is highly strategic. With this link we have fulfilled our objective of establishing an alliance with a renowned and prestigious company.”
“Marathonbet will be our first main sponsor since winning promotion to La Liga, so this is a real milestone for the club. We intend to create a close, long-term relationship so that both entities can continue to grow together.”
Natalia Zavodnik, CEO of Marathonbet, said, “We’re really excited to announce this partnership with Girona FC, one of the emerging forces in Spanish football in recent years. The club is coming off a very impressive debut season in La Liga and we can’t wait to see how the next few seasons unfold at EstadiMontilivi.”
“Marathonbet and Girona share a similar story in recent years with our emergence in the Spanish market mirroring their rise to prominence since promotion to La Liga in 2017.”
Meanwhile, the club has also revealed plans to further expand the capacity of their home stadium following a successful start of their LaLiga campaign. The project will see an additional 1,000 seats installed in the Gol Sur stand, which will result in the stadium’s capacity growing from 13,500 to 14,500.
400 of the new seats will be designated to VIPs, while 300 will be made available to club members and the remaining 300 are to be sold on matchdays.
When Girona got promoted to LaLiga in 2017, Estadi Montilivi could only hold 9,200 spectators, but the club put temporary measures in place to ensure more than 4,000 seats were added ahead of their La Liga debut to meet the minimum capacity set in the statutes of La Liga, which is 15,000.
