Ronaldo’s Juventus signing: Clubs ex-CEO Moggi confirms the deal
Cristiano Ronaldo will be playing in the Italian top division Serie A from the next season. The Portuguese star striker’s move from Real Madrid to Juventus has been confirmed by club’s former CEO Moggi.
An official announcement is the only formality left for Ronaldo’s move to Juventus.
In what would be the biggest ever signing for the Serie A title holders, the club’s former CEO Luciano Moggi has confirmed that “Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer is a done deal and the star Real Madrid forward has already signed for Juventus,” state media reports.
The move is sealed for an estimated deal of €100 million ($116 million) transfer fee. The new signing will get Ronaldo an annual salary of € 30 million ($35.09 million).  The deal will place Ronaldo among the highest paid football professionals but is still not good enough to pace him ahead of Lionel Messi.
Moggi, who has been a part of the club’s top-level management for 12 years, has claimed that “Ronaldo’s medical was done at Munich and only the official announcement was left”.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was also rumoured to be going to Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.
However, Moggi in an interview to Italian TV network Tele7Gold has effectively laid all speculation to rest as he said, “In my opinion, he (Ronaldo) has already signed and passed the medical examination with Juventus in Munich.”
Moggi had attributed the information to his talks with “important people”.
Juventus has also made a failed attempt to acquire Ronaldo during Moggi’s tenure. “I offered five million more for an 18-year-old player, but it could not be done at that time,” Moggi has reportedly confirmed during the interview.
