Serie A club Napoli and Amazon tie up for exclusive brand store

Serie A club Napoli and Amazon tie up for an exclusive brand store in a first for football merchandising business.
Serie A club SSC Napoli has claimed a football first by signing a deal with Internet giants Amazon to launch an exclusive brand store. The Italian football giants Napoli, who finished 2nd behind the champions Juventus in 2017-18 Serie A season, have become the first football club in the world to launch their own exclusive Amazon Brand Store simultaneously in Amazon’s regional markets of Italy (amazon.it), France (amazon.fr), Germany (amazon.de), United Kingdom (amazon.co.uk) and Spain (amazon.es).
The club management has said that it aims to extend the agreement in the near future to include the North American markets. It also aims to bring tens of millions of fans across the world closer to the club by offering Amazon customers quick, easy access to Napoli kit and merchandise.
Fans can visit the Napoli Amazon Brand Store and find Kappa products along with a full range of Napoli Calcio-licensed merchandise. The page features animated content that will be regularly updated for an interactive fan engagement experience.
The club has said that the deal with Amazon forms the part of the international development strategy it has been carrying forward in recent years with the aim of strengthening the Napoli brand in foreign markets.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, “Napoli have become a regular fixture among the top 20 clubs in UEFA rankings, have over 40 million fans worldwide as well as a further 120 million with a passing interest. It is very important for us to be able to offer them easy access to our merchandise, and Amazon offers extraordinarily efficient distribution and order management services.”
The announcement of Napoli exclusive Amazon store coincides with the unveiling of SSC Napoli new kits for 2018-19 season in collaboration with Kappa, the club’s official kit partner.
Italian sportswear brand Kappa’s research and development centre has designed a technical fabric under the brand name ‘Kombat’ features a combination of Kappa’s ‘stop stopping’ technology, the anti-grab function that has revolutionised football jerseys, and dynamic animal-inspired designs.
The club has said that Kombat jerseys for the 2018/19 season are an expression of competitive spirit and animalistic instinct. From the geometric design of the Kombat home jersey, the face of a roaring panther emerges. Whereas, the design of the goalkeeper jersey is inspired by the skin of reptiles, with the head of a snake adorning the back of the shirt.
