A couple of months after Vivo Communication technology, the Chinese smartphone brand, had given its media mandate to a new agency, BBK Electronics group’s other mobile handset brand OPPO too has called for a multi-agency media pitch.
OPPO, the title sponsor of the Indian national cricket team, reportedly has a media account of ₹200 crore. E4M, quoting sources, has reported that all leading agencies including IPG, GroupM and Denstu Aegis Network have participated in the pitch, called in the first week of September.
Starcom Mediavest at present holds the media mandate for OPPO. The agency, managing OPPO’s media interests since 2015, was instrumental in the OPPO-BCCI deal.
The media pitch is reported to be in its second round and a final decision is expected sometime next month.
OPPO is a global electronics and technology service provider, from China’s BBK Electronics group, that delivers the latest mobile electronic devices in over 20 countries, including the United States, China, Australia and many countries throughout Europe, Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
OPPO Digital in March last year had inked a ₹1,079 crore deal to sponsor the India national cricket team for five years between 2017-18 and 2022-23. Oppo currently pays ₹ 4.61 crore per bilateral match and ₹1.56 crore for an ICC event match to support the brand logo on the team jersey and other allied marketing gains.
OPPO’s other BBK Electronics sister concern, Vivo too had changed its media agency and given the mandate to GroupM’s MediaCom in August this year. The Chinese brand is the title sponsor of the Indian Premier League and the Pro Kabaddi League.
