Yonex extends Australian Open partnership

Prominent Japanese sports manufacturer Yonex has extended their agreement with Tennis Australia as the official stringer of the Australian Open in a new multi-year deal.
The partnership extension was announced at special Australian Open launch function in Tokyo.
The Yonex team will offer racquet stringing services in the qualifying, main draw singles, doubles, mixed doubles, wheelchair and junior events. More than 5000 racquets are expected to be strung over the event, with the excellent precision that the Yonex team are renown for.
Yonex will have a team of world-class stringers at the Australian Open to maintain the high standard that the players expect.
Fans will be able to watch Yonex’s international stringing team in action at their base on the edge of Garden Square, and there will activations for fans during the tournament.
Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley said, “Yonex is a great tennis brand, much-loved around the world, and a perfect fit for the Grand Slam of the Asia-Pacific. At the Australian Open our whole team works incredibly hard to provide exceptional service to the players and Yonex plays a key role in how we deliver.”
Yonex Executive Officer of Global Marketing Wataru Hirokawa said, “We are thrilled to be back in Melbourne again next January. We look forward to taking advantage of our previous three years of experience as the Official Stringer to provide the highest calibre of stringing services to tennis players and fans worldwide.”
“Yonex will offer five free restrings to every player per round to allow players to worry less about their gear and focus on performing their best. We are proud to play a vital role in keeping the Australian Open, known as the Happy Slam by players and fans.”
The Yonex Stringing Team, during the first two years of its partnership with Australian Open, has set a record in tournament stringing with 5,460 restrings and on its busiest day performing 544 restrings, both records for the most ever of any tournament to date.
The team also has vast stringing experience in multi-sport events which includes Beijing, London and Rio Olympics, along with a great number of other events around the world.
