Star Sports has reportedly appointed Rajiv Mathrani as new Chief Marketing Officer for India’s single largest broadcast network.
Mathrani has moved in from Airtel where he was Chief Brand and Online Officer. He, according to media reports, has joined Star Sports on Monday, September 17.
During his three years with Airtel, Mathrani led the transformation of the telecom giant into a digital services player.
Mathrani, a graduate in production engineering from the University of Mumbai and is an MBA in marketing from XLRI Jamshedpur, has in the past also served as Category Marketing Head, Snacks, and Director of PepsiCo India Holdings Private Limited until August 2015 where he led the snacks category and portfolio strategy for Lays, Kurkure, Uncle Chipps and Cheetos. He had played a key role in driving strong business growth and defining master brands.
Mathrani has held various leadership, marketing and sales roles earlier in India and other emerging markets across organizations like Marico Industries, Citibank and Glaxo SmithKline Consumer Healthcare.
The broadcaster has been hunting for a competent professional to head the marketing team after Shubhranshu Singh, Executive Vice President and Head Marketing at Star Sports, had moved out in January this year.
