Adidas India has announced a tie-up with India’s rising and most promising athlete Hima Das. The young athletic sensation will serve as the brand ambassador of the Indian entity of the German global sportswear giant.
The Assam girl is the latest Indian athlete to join the adidas family in the country. The 20-year-old Hima had sought into limelight as she became the first Indian girl to win an athletics world championship medal – the 400-metre gold at the World U20 Championships.
Hima has also won a gold and two silver medals at the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang.
Hima is welcomed to the adidas family by the German footwear and sport-wear brand’s India MD Dave Thomsan and senior marketing director Sean Van Wyk.
adidas has earlier also inked a deal with the Sports Authority of India to provide customised footwear to the Asian Games heptathlon champion Swapna Barman, who had 12 toe fingers in her feet.
Hima has also been appointed a sports brand ambassador by her native State Assam.
The recent success has resulted in windfall for this daughter of the paddy farmers from Assam. Indian Oil had announced a ₹20 lakh cash prize for Hima, besides the State and Central government honours and cash rewards for her success at the World Junior Championships and the Asian Games.
She had also inked a multi-year, multi-crore rupee management deal with a sports management firm.
