Abhishek Joshi quits Sony Pictures Network India
Abhishek Joshi has stepped down from his position as the Marketing, Subscription, Content and Licensing of Digital Business Head in the Sony Pictures Networks India. He was, among other responsibilities, in charge for marketing of SPNI’s OTT platform SonyLiv.
Joshi, who had joined Sony three years ago as the Vice-President and Head – Marketing & Analytics, Digital Business, was recently promoted and given additional responsibilities, has recently been elevated to his current position with additional responsibilities.
After several days of speculation over his resignation, Joshi had confirmed the development to Indiantelevision.com.
Joshi has been a core member of digital business leadership team and also looked after global monetisation and syndication of SPN’s content across digital platforms in addition to heading marketing for SonyLIV.
During his 17 years in the media industry, Joshi was the CEO of Zenga Media immediately before joining SPNI in 2015. He has also been associated with Reliance Big Pictures, SAB TV and ABP Group in various capacities, handling diverse responsibilities – marketing, analytics, business development and content partnerships, strategy business planning and execution expertise spanning across television networks, internet video, content distribution, ad agencies and brand licensing & marketing.
This is the second major departure from Sony in as many weeks after Kedar Teny, senior vice president, had confirmed his resignation from the SPNI.
