Flipkart relying on cricket power to win Festival Sales face-off with Amazon

cricket power to win Festival Sales face-off with Amazon
Flipkart is facing a direct clash with Amazon India for its #BigBillionDaysAreBack sale launch on October 10. The Wallmart-backed e-commerce giant is relying heavily on the brand power of cricket’s biggest icons to boost its festival season sales.
Flipkart has put to the fore the top two brand forces of Indian sports to drive home the mileage in a direct battle with rival Amazon. Country’s biggest brand icon Virat Kohli and his predecessor in the No. 1 position for brand endorsements Mahendra Singh Dhoni are promoting Flipkart’s “Budget Se Pareshan” and “Shopping versus Budget” sales pitches respectively for the #BigBillionDaysAreBack sale.
In a video message #BigBillionDaysAreBack, tweeted by Flipkart on its official handle, Kohli is heard professing that how the budget will not be an issue for shopping on Flipkart during those five Big Billion Days.
Dhoni in his #BigBillionDayAreBack message provokes the thought of a buyer whose shopping aspiration more often than not are beaten by the budget factor. For these five Big Billion Days on Flipkart shopping will be the winner over budget, Dhoni says in the commercial message.
In addition to cricket’s biggest brand icons, Flipkart also has on its roles Mahanayak Amitabh Bachchan to boost its marketing initiatives for the #BigBillionDayAreBack.
Flipkart’s marketing initiative with these icons is also getting severe backlash from disgruntled customers who have been let down by e-commerce platform’s poor after sales service and a weak response to redress the grievances.
Flipkart is expecting to aggregate ₹ 7,250 crore ($ 1 billion) from the five Big Billion Days sales period. India’s largest e-commerce market place has almost doubled its target from the similar sale last year. However, adverse and negative remarks from clients on its social media platforms and a direct clash of dates with Amazon festival sales make the $1 billion figure a huge target for Flipkart.

Flipkart will launch the Big Billion Days from October 10 to 14. From the first day, Flipkart will offer deals on fashion, TVs, appliances, furniture, beauty, sports and smart devices. Sale for mobiles will open a day later.
