Indian Super League: Dhoni bats for Chennaiyin FC in Star Sports’ new TVC

Dhoni bats for Chennaiyin FC in Star Sports’ new TVC

Football fans across the country do not consider Tamil Nadu as a state with football frenzy but Thala Dhoni, the adopted son of Tamil Nadu, has come out in support of the fans and the team. Chennaiyin FC are two-time Hero Indian Super League champions and can become the first team to not only win the Hero Indian Super League (HISL) thrice but the first team to also win back to back titles in the history of the HISL.
Star Sports has launched a brand new TVC in Tamil targeted towards all the football fans in Tamil Nadu, where Thala – MS Dhoni is seen describing the Hero ISL trophy that Chennaiyin FC won last season as the “pride of Tamil Nadu”. The TVC also sees Dhoni reminding all the football fans in India that the most prized possession in Indian football – HISL trophy is with Chennaiyin FC. The TVC starts with fans across West Bengal, Goa and Kerala mocking Chennaiyin FC and the football fans in TN on their lack of football knowledge only to be eventually reminded by MS Dhoni that the Hero Indian Super League trophy is in Tamil Nadu and the team will give its best to retain the trophy.

Chennaiyin FC will open their campaign against Bengaluru FC the team they beat in the finals last season at Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Sunday, September 30, 2018. Season 5 will kick off in India’s football capital, Kolkata, with 2-time champion and home team ATK taking on Kerala Blasters FC (KBFC) – whose love for football knows no boundaries, at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata at 7.30 pm.

Hero Indian Super League Season 5 will be broadcast on the Star Sports network, Hotstar and Jio TV. Season 5 will have a six-language feed across 7 channels. Season 5 will also see the debut of Star Sports 3, wherein the Hero ISL will be exclusively broadcast in Hindi.
