Facebook, as part of its mega sports content acquisition, is reportedly engaged in talks with Cristiano Ronaldo for a reality show worth $10 million.
With one scripted drama series with facebook already under Ronaldo’s belt, the Portuguese football icon is reportedly linking up with Facebook again. This time around, with $10 million Cristiano Ronaldo Reality Show.
Digital news platform Variety.com has reported this to be “the biggest original series deal Facebook has ever done”. The show will revolve around Ronaldo and his on and off-field life. It will be based on the precedent set by Facebook with Tom vs Time, the first show of which revolved around the NFL star Tom Brady.
The 13-episode deal will be brought to the Facebook watch and Facebook’s video platform TV-style content.
Facebook has continued with its inroads in the field of Sports Broadcasting. The Ronaldo signing will be another big step up for the tech giants. Although they will have to cough up $10 million for the star forward, the popularity that Ronaldo enjoys can be the triggering point for Facebook. Ronaldo is one of the most famous athletes ever and has more than 120 million followers on his official page.
Facebook has funded some original shows before this, but with the current price tag, this is set to be the biggest deal ever that Facebook will attempt.
