FIFA World Cup 2018: 78,000 spectators attend Russia-Saudi Arabia opener

The FIFA World Cup 2018 opening match between hosts Russia and Saudi Arabia was attended by 78,011 spectators. The attendance figures at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow are released by the FIFA Press service.
Hosts have started their World Cup campaign with a resounding 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia 5-0.
The 81,000 capacity Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, which hosted the FIFA World Cup 2018 opener between hosts Russia and Saudi Arabia, is the largest football stadium in the country.
The attendance at the World Cup 2018 opener has surpassed the average spectator numbers for any of the FIFA World Cup editions since 1930.
