DAZN announces Cristiano Ronaldo as its first global brand ambassador

Ronaldo as its first global brand

Perform Group-owned OTT sports streaming service DAZN has rope in Portuguese and Juventus football star Cristiano Ronaldo as its first global brand ambassador.
The 2.5 year deal will see the 33-year-old five time Ballon d’Or winner promote DAZN across its current multiple markets including Germany, Italy, Canada and Japan, as well as in future territories.
The move comes after DAZN launched in Italy with exclusive rights to 114 matches each season from Serie A, the top flight of club soccer in the country. DAZN’s rights portfolio in Italy also includes Serie B, Italian soccer’s second tier, as well as Spain’s La Liga and France’s Ligue 1.
Touted as the ‘Netflix for sports’, the OTT subscription streaming service portfolio includes some of the premium sports content offering that ranges from football, basketball, cricket, American football, Ice hockey, baseball, rugby, tennis, motorsport, rugby, combat sports, professional wrestling, cue sports, darts etc.
“The world is changing and thanks to an innovative approach, DAZN is breaking down barriers for sports fans. Now we can watch sport however and whenever we want, which is why, for me, being part of DAZN’s journey was an easy decision to make,” said the former Real Madrid striker.
Ronaldo recently moved to Turin to join the Italian champions after his 9-year-long illustrious and decorated stint with the LaLiga giants Real Madrid.
DAZN Chief Executive James Rushton added, “This is an incredibly exciting time for DAZN. As our business grows internationally and pushes new boundaries, it’s important that we align ourselves with sporting greats who do the same.
“Cristiano is undoubtedly a legend, fans love him and that’s why we wanted to work with him. He’s a big sports fan himself, so having him advocating the work we’re doing is perfect.”
Ronaldo made his Italian top division football debut for Juventus on Saturday as the Serie A champions kicked off the new season with a 3-2 win over Chievo.
