A day after retirement, Mitchell Johnson makes professional debut with Star Sports




Mitchell Johnson has announced his retirement from cricket, but his love for and association with the sport will continue. The former Australian speedster will make his debut with Star Sports in the ongoing Karnataka Premier League.
Johnson has joined the galaxy on cricket stars, who are on duty with Star Sports. He will now be a part of Star Sports’ philosophy of giving regional sports an international flavor. The Star Sports panel for the Karnataka Premier League 2018, underway since August 15, includes global cricket icons Dean Jones, Brett Lee, Scott Styris and no Mitchell Johnson. Indian stalwarts Vijay Bharadwaj, Sunil Joshi, Fazal, A Balachandra, Sujith Somasundar along with Charu Sharma and anchors Suhail Chandhok and Mayanti Langer are the other prominent voices on the elite commentary panel.
Johnson for the first time ever will don the commentator hat, Star Sports has stated in a media release.
“It is a pleasure to be a part of such a world class panel of expert commentators for KPL 2018. It will be fun to continue sharing the commentary box with legends of the game like Brett, Scott and Dean. Our aim is to bring a continuous comprehensive coverage of the best cricketing action to fans as the tournament progresses,” an elated Johnson said about his new role to serve the sport from the KPL commentary box.
Star Sports, the official broadcaster of KPL 2018, believes in providing the best of cricket content and facilitating unmatched TV viewing experience for the cricket fans across India. The regional programming will garner more fans, as they will get to witness the matches and cricket commentary in their preferred language.
Star Sport is broadcasting the KPL with English and Kannada commentary on Star Sports 2 and Star Sports 2 HD. The audience have the option to select the Kannada commentary on both the channels.
