Football Delhi set to launch maiden professional league

The Football Delhi, governing body for football in the Capital earlier named Delhi Soccer Association, is all set to launch its first professional league.
Football Delhi, as per its annual calendar will launch the Delhi Premier Football League, the first professional league in Delhi in October 2018 this year. The governing body for football for Delhi has initiated a tender process for franchisee bids. “For the entry and registration of new clubs in the pro league the interested parties can collect the tender document from FD House, Jangpura Extension on or before 20th August 2018,” Football Delhi has stated in a Press release. The bid documents will cost ₹1000.
Existing clubs who fulfill basic 2nd Division I-league criteria and who wish to adopt professional structure would be allowed entry into the pro league.
The Delhi Premier Football League will end by the end of December so as to facilitate teams from Delhi to be part of 2nd Division I League. Football Delhi has said that this is an initiative to strengthen the club structure in Delhi and part of building a robust competitive structure from top to bottom of the football pyramid.
Football Delhi on Wednesday last has inked a commercial association with the JSW. The deal was jointly announced in the Capital by tFootballbal Delhi President Shaji Prabhakaran and JSW Sports Director Parth Jindal. As part of the deal, JSW Sports has become the Principal Partner of Football Delhi for the next three years.
