Manisha Malhotra has joined JSW Sports. In her new role the former Indian tennis star and Olympian will spearhead the company’s Olympic Programme.
JSW Sports has announced the appointment of Manisha Malhotra as the Head of Sports Excellence and Scouting.
The former Mittal Champions Trust chief executive, Manisha in her new role will lead the company’s flagship Sports Excellence Program (SEP) which currently supports over 30 elite Indian athletes across 5 Olympic disciplines. In the role, Manisha’s primary focus would be in driving initiatives for all SEP athletes leading up to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. She will also oversee the scouting of new talents to be inducted in the program from across the country.
Manisha has won the mixed-doubles silver at the 2002 Busan Asian Games and has been closely involved with management and administration of sports in India, having previously been the CEO of the Mittal Champions Trust.
Talking about her new role at JSW Sports, Malhotra said, “Having been around elite sport all my life, I have always wanted to give back not only to sport but also to our country. India has come a long way over the last decade, but still has to go much further to be called a sporting nation. JSW Sports has played a key role in developing sports in India and the commitment to make sustainable change is what really enticed me to take up this challenge.”
Commenting on the addition of Manisha to the Leadership Team, CEO of JSW Sports Mustafa Ghouse shared, “Manisha has played a significant role in the evolution of the sports ecosystem in the country, specifically within the talent scouting and development space. She has a strong understanding about the needs of elite international athletes, which will be a critical cog in our vision to manage and develop our athletes in a professional manner. She is welcomed warmly by the management and all the athletes of the SEP program.”
