NBC Sports Gold, the direct-to-consumer live streaming strand of NBC Sports Digital, has launched Snow Pass, an over-the-top (OTT) service focused on global winter sports.
The streaming platform, which will feature more than 700 hours of live and on-demand coverage between October 2018 and April 2019, will give fans access to a variety of domestic and international competitions.
Snow Pass will focus on seven Winter Olympic sports, with alpine skiing, Nordic combined, ski jumping, cross-country skiing, freestyle skiing, biathlon and snowboarding all featuring among the coverage, 100 hours of which are set to be broadcast exclusively on the platform.
The service, which is available for purchase at $69.99 on Android, Apple iOS, Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast, Roku and online, acts as a supplement to the stable of winter sports already available in the US on NBC, NBCFSN and the Olympic Channel.
Snow Pass also includes every remaining event of the World Cup season for each of the seven sports, with exclusive live and on-demand coverage of many alpine skiing events. The pass also features coverage of the International Skiing Federation (FIS) World Championships, which take place in alternate years.
As part of the product’s launch, Snow Pass will stream the first FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup races of the 2018/19 season from Soelden, Austria on 27th October. NBC Sports Gold holds the exclusive broadcast rights to all FIS events held in the country.
Portia Archer, vice president, direct-to-consumer services, NBC Sports Group, said: “Coming off the success of the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics, the appetite for winter sports coverage has never been greater. Whether it’s the thrill of the downhill, the endurance of cross-country, or the majesty of the ski jump, we’re excited to give fans more content than ever before.”
