Italian football club AS Roma have announced a partnership with American entertainment company Warner Bros for the 2018-19 season.
The deal will see Warner Bros Entertainment Italia collaborate with the Seria A giants on a number of projects and initiatives planned following the announcement, including tie-ups with the launches of the many Sony Pictures films being distributed by the company this season.
The two parties have come together to create a promotional video ahead of next month’s release of Venom, starring Tom Hardy. Four of AS Roma players – Kostas Manolas, Justin Kluivert, Antonio Mirante and captain Daniele De Rossi – feature in the promo, which ends with a cameo from club legend Francesco Totti.
“Venom infects AS Roma – world-class football and international cinema come together in a high-profile collaboration. AS Roma and Warner Bros. Entertainment Italia have joined forces for the 2018-19 cinema and football seasons,” states the write-up on the club’s official website.
In the film, journalist Eddie Brock, played by Oscar-nominated actor Tom Hardy, becomes infected by a symbiotic alien organism which takes control of him and turns him into Venom. The advert focuses on one of the key themes of the movie: the struggle between the uncontrollable power of the alien symbiote and the protagonist’s desire to rein it in.
