The Committee of Administrators at the Board of Control for Cricket in India has shed its strict administrator image to grant a generous “farewell trip” to officiating president CK Khanna. The board will bear all the expensed of Khanna and his executive assistant’s week-long UAE trip for the Asia Cup.
Khanna along with his executive secretary will be in Dubai from September 22 till the final on September 28. The CoA, states an Indian Express report, will also allow a similar trip to officiating treasure Anirudh Chaudhary, if he desires to attend the Asia Cup.
“It’s a farewell trip for CK Khanna. If the treasurer wants, he can go also. The ACC is bearing the expenses of Amitabh Choudhary and Rahul Johri. The BCCI will bear all expenses for Khanna, as he has requested the CoA. The CoA felt as it will be the last few days in the BCCI (for the existing office-bearers), they should be allowed to travel for their last series. If Anirudh Chaudhry wants, the CoA will clear his plans too,” Indian Express has quoted the source told The Indian Express.
The same CoA had earlier adopted a tough stance to curtail and question the trips by the officiating BCCI secretary treasurer. The CoA had questioned and curtailed the secretary’s trips tou Colombo for the Nidahas Trophy, UK and Dublin while also sought explanation for his Bhutan visit.
n of pitches, etc.”
Amitabh Chaudhary and CEO Rahul Johri too will be in the UAE for the Asia Cup. However, they will be travelling as the Asian Cricket Council guests and their expenses will be borne by the continental cricket body.
The CoA has succeeded in putting a tap on the earlier practice of BCCI officials travel with the Indian national team on the overseas tours.
