Indian Super League 2018 will be staged under the aegis of Reliance Industries Limited with Star Sports as the other partner. Alliance partners IMG, the global sports management brand, are out of the association that had launched and developed India’s premier football league.
The name IMG is missing from all the new ISL creatives and profiles. The ISL logo on league’s official website too has been replaced. It only features Reliance and Star names now.
IMG and Reliance had formed the alliance – IMG Reliance Private Limited – and announced the Indian Super League in association with Star Sports. IMG, Reliance and Star names prominently figured on the ISL logo for all the four seasons till date.
As the logo for the 2018-19 season is launched, IMG’s name is conspicuous by its absence. A source privy to the development has confirmed to Insidesport.co that IMG is out of the deal.
Reliance Industries will make a formal announcement soon.
The ISL 2018 season will kick start on September 29 at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata with hosts and two-time champions ATK taking on the Kerala Blasters.
Reliance Industries had collaborated with IMG in a joint venture to promote and develop sports, entertainment and fashion in India.
