Afghanistan Premier League side Nangarhar Leopards have signed former India fast bowler and the Indian national team bowling coach Venkatesh Prasad as the head coach of their T20 league team.
The much-awaited Afghanistan Premier League will kick start from Friday, October 5.
Legendary Indian Pace bowler, Venkatesh Prasad will be the coach for the Nangarhar franchisee. The team comes across as the most balanced side among the five teams. The team, to be led by the Jamaican Andre Russell, includes Ben Cutting, Mitchell McClenaghan, Imran Janat, Tamim Iqbal, Shafiqullah Shafaq, and Mohammad Hafeez.
The Inaugural Season of the Afghanistan Premier League will comprise five teams – Paktia Panthers, Kabul Zwanan, Balkh Legends, Nangarhar Leopards and Kandahar Knights –representing different provinces of Afghanistan. DSPORT will broadcast the live action from the league.
Paktia Panthers will be led by former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, popularly called Boom Boom Afridi. The Pathan is a veteran of1,416 T20 runs and 98 wickets in almost 100 matches. Cameron Delport, Chris Jordan and Luke Wright have come on board to strengthen the team.

Kabul Zwanan will be captained by the Afghanistan cricket’s top star Rashid Khan. He had a brilliant Indian Premier League season representing Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he took 21 wickets. The team also has remarkable players like Luke Ronchi and Wayne Parnell.
The Afghanistan team captain Mohammad Nabi will lead Balkh Legends, powered by Chris Gayle. The team also includes Mohamad Nawaz, Ben Laughlin, Darwish Rasooli and Ikrain Alikhil.
Former New Zealand, wicketkeeper batsmen Brendon Mccullum will lead Kandahar Knights. The Knights have emerging players like Abdul Baqi, Waqar Salamkhel and Wahidullah Shafaq in their ranks.
