European club to launch esports team

Wolverhampton Wanderers are the latest Premier League club to launch their own esports after inking a deal with Dutch console gaming eSports agencies Bundled.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have joined the likes of other major clubs who own an esports team such as West Ham United, Manchester City, AS Roma, VfL Wolfsburg, Schalke 04 etc. among few others.
It is also the latest club to do a deal with Bundled that also currently manages over 20 professional eSports players and works alongside some of Europe’s most successful eSports teams including Ajax and Feyenoord.
Under the terms of the agreement, Bundled will work with Wolves on eSports player recruitment, event management and content creation at the major FIFA tournaments around the world.
Fans will be able to tune in to Wolves eSports content Twitter, Instagram and Twitch. Stay tuned to these channels for a number of exciting, upcoming initiatives.
Russell Jones, Wolves head of marketing, said, “The growth in eSports is incredible. 160 million people are now tuning in to eSports every week, so entering this market presents a huge opportunity for the club to engage with fans in new and exciting ways.
“We will initially concentrate our eSports efforts around FIFA, which has also seen phenomenal growth. Over 10 million players entered this year’s e-series FIFA World Cup, with many more millions tuning in online to watch the action.
“We wanted to partner with an experienced agency so that we could enter the market with confidence. Bundled’s creative approach to content production and their experience of working with top eSports players and teams, puts them in a great position to support our ambition in this area.”
Bundled managing director Melvyn Wolthers added, “We are thrilled and honoured to be working alongside Wolves to develop their eSports programme across Europe and the Far East.
“We have been working with European clubs for many years and are very excited to support Wolves, whose aspirations off the pitch are just as progressive as on it.”
