After Dangal records, Sultan set for China release

ultan set for China release

The Salman Khan-Anushka Sharma starrer Sultan is all ready to set the Chinese cinema screens ablaze. The film will be released across China on August 31Friday.
Sultan producers Yash Raj Films have collaborated with China’s leading film distribution company E Stars to screen Sultan in over 11,000 screens, targeting around 40,000 shows a day. The film will release with the same title, Sultan. The posters in Mandarin are already out. For Chinese audience, the film will be sub-titles in Mandarin.
“Every time a film releases and a newer set of audiences see it, you get a different perspective altogether. China is a fast-growing market for Indian Cinema. I’m really excited and looking forward to people’s reaction to Sultan in China,” director Ali Abhas Zafar has said.
YRF Vice President, International Operations Avtar Panesar added, “China is without a doubt the new frontier for Indian cinema today and our collective successes there ratifies the belief that art has no boundaries/borders. Our strength has always been to tell emotional human stories and humans are the same everywhere so it’s very encouraging to see this connect. We’re naturally grateful to the Chinese authorities and audiences for their love towards Indian cinema and we look forward to continue to build on this success with them – exciting times.”
The Aamir Khan starrer Dangal, sports drama based on wrestling’s iconic Phogat family, had grossed over $190 million (₹ 123 crore) from China. It has grossed $6 million (₹40 crore) from Taiwan alone. The first non-English film to cross $300 million mark worldwide, Dangal was the top 20 grossers ever in China.
With the grand launch, the Sultan team will be targeting to better the mark.
Like Dangal, Sultan too is based on a wrestling story – about Sultan Ali Khan, played by Salman Khan. The local wrestling champion nurtured dreams of representing India at the Olympics. Anushka Sharma is female cast opposite Salman. She plays Aarfa, a feisty young girl from the same small town as Sultan with her own set of dreams.
When the 2 local wrestling legends lock horns, romance blossoms and their dreams and aspirations become intertwined and aligned. Sultan is a classic underdog tale about a wrestler’s journey, looking for a comeback by defeating all odds
