The Delhi High Court has appointed an Administrator to take control of the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) with immediate effect. The court has also declared the elections of Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India Life President JS Gehlot and President Mridula Bhadauria as illegal.
The Delhi High Court, while passing the order on a Writ Petition by Mahipal Singh and others, has also declared the amendments to the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) constitution illegal. The courts has further ordered that the Court-appointed Administrator to take control of the AKFI affairs with immediate affect till the next elections of the federation.
While declaring illegal the election of Mrs Bhadauria, who is the wife of the now removed AKFI president JS Gehlot, the court has also ruled that the all perks paid to her will be recovered.
The petitioner, pleading serious lapses and illegalities in the functioning of AKFI, had prayed for a) appointment of an independent commissioner to run the federation, b) to order an inquiry by the Central Bureau of investigation into the affair of the AKFI and c) declare the elections of the Life President and the President illegal, null and void.
“The court has ruled that the amendments forced by Mr JS Gehlot the Life President his wife Mridula Bhadauria, an outsider, the President of the AKFI are illegal,” the petitioners’ lawyer BS Nagar told insidesport.co. “The amendments, the appoint of the Life President and the election of Mr Mridula Bhaduria as the AKFI president are all declared illegal.
“The Court has appointed an IPS officer as the administrator to take the charge of the AKFI with immediate effect. We have pleaded to the court to the court that unless the kabaddi governance is cleaned at the District and State levels where people are occupying the offices for up to four decades, a re-election in the federation will not change anything as the same people or their puppets will return to ruin the system.”
InsideSports.co reached out the AKFI assistant secretary Devraj Chaturvedi for reaction. He declined to comment, saying he was occupied with the lawyers.
